Overview:

Our client is a global healthcare innovator, seeking a Vice President of Business Development & Sales to join their team. The Vice President of Business Development & Sales is responsible for leading national growth initiatives and driving strategic partnerships across the healthcare and payer ecosystem. This executive role focuses on developing and executing go-to-market strategies, expanding enterprise client relationships, and generating high-value revenue opportunities through direct sales and broker/consultant channels. The position also serves as a market-facing leader, representing the organization at industry events and positioning the company as a trusted advisor and innovator within the healthcare and pharmacy benefits landscape.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead national sales and business development strategies for payer and healthcare service offerings.
  • Develop and close complex, high-value partnerships with health plans, PBMs, employer groups, and other healthcare organizations.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships across payer, pharmacy, and benefits management sectors.
  • Establish and grow strategic partnerships with brokers, consultants, and channel partners to drive new business opportunities.
  • Create and execute annual business development plans aligned with aggressive revenue and growth targets.
  • Identify emerging market opportunities and develop tailored sales strategies to meet client and industry needs.
  • Represent the organization at industry conferences, forums, networking events, and speaking engagements.
  • Position the organization as a thought leader by sharing market insights, trends, and innovative solutions.
  • Conduct competitive market analysis to identify differentiation opportunities and strengthen market positioning.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on pricing, contracting, product positioning, and client solution strategies.
  • Partner cross-functionally with marketing, finance, operations, and product teams to support successful go-to-market execution.
  • Support the development of sales enablement tools, case studies, and client-facing materials.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to broader sales and organizational initiatives.
  • Support CRM strategy, implementation, and optimization efforts to improve sales effectiveness and pipeline management.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of sales leadership experience within healthcare, payer services, pharmacy services, or related industries
  • Proven track record of closing complex, multi-million-dollar enterprise contracts
  • Strong network of executive relationships across healthcare payers, PBMs, employer groups, brokers, and consultants
  • Experience managing long sales cycles and navigating complex deal structures
  • Deep understanding of healthcare economics, pharmacy benefits, and payer market dynamics
  • Familiarity with value-based contracting, cost-containment strategies, and specialty healthcare solutions
  • Strong strategic planning, business development, and revenue growth capabilities
  • Excellent executive communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to assess market trends, financial drivers, and competitive positioning
  • Highly motivated, results-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced growth environment
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence senior stakeholders
  • Confident public speaker with experience representing organizations in industry-facing settings
