Overview:

The Area Vice President of Sales is a senior commercial leader responsible for driving regional sales strategy, business growth, and operational excellence for a global healthcare company. This role leads high-performing sales organizations, develops strategic customer relationships, and partners cross-functionally to execute commercial objectives and deliver sustainable business results. The ideal candidate is an experienced sales executive with a strong track record of leading teams, exceeding performance goals, and navigating complex healthcare markets. Responsibilities:

  • Lead regional sales strategy and execution to achieve or exceed revenue and performance objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategic business plans aligned with corporate goals and market opportunities.
  • Drive sales force effectiveness through performance management, coaching, analytics, and operational excellence.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, healthcare stakeholders, and strategic accounts.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive activity, customer insights, and business opportunities to inform strategy and decision-making.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Market Access, Sales Operations, Commercial Excellence, Training, and other business partners.
  • Provide leadership in financial planning, budget management, forecasting, and resource allocation.
  • Lead regional business reviews and communicate performance updates and strategic initiatives to senior leadership.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop sales leaders and team members to foster a high-performance culture and support career development.
  • Recruit, hire, and retain top talent while promoting diversity, inclusion, and employee engagement.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve sales processes, customer engagement strategies, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and company policies and procedures.
  • Foster a collaborative, customer-focused culture that supports innovation, accountability, and business growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 15+ years of pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or related industry experience
  • 5+ years of regional or senior sales leadership experience with direct people management responsibilities
  • Proven track record of achieving sales and business objectives
  • Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and strategic planning skills
  • Ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and influence stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and business acumen skills
  • Experience within a global pharmaceutical or healthcare organization preferred
  • Experience leading product launches, organizational change, or commercial expansion initiatives preferred
  • Background in strategic accounts, market access, or healthcare systems engagement preferred
  • Strong understanding of healthcare industry and commercial operations processes
  • Ability to travel regularly as needed
