Overview:

Our client is seeking a CFO for a SaaS platform startup. This is a senior executive responsible for managing the company’s financial operations and strategic financial planning. This role will play a crucial role in developing financial models, managing capital, and securing funding within a SaaS model. Additionally, they will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow, while also contributing to revenue generation and business growth.

SaaS businesses differ from traditional B2B or B2C companies in that they include subscription services as opposed to one-time purchases. A SaaS CFO utilizes industry specific knowledge and tools to strategically monitor and optimize company performance. A SaaS CFO is a key player in ensuring the company’s overall revenue growth, sustainable cash flow, path to profitability, and Increased shareholder value.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Developing financial forecasts, analyzing key SaaS metrics, and recommending strategies to improve profitability.
  • Capital Management: Managing capital allocation, securing funding, and optimizing cash flow.
  • Financial Reporting and Compliance: Ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Strategic Financial Planning: Developing and executing financial strategies to support business growth and innovation.
  • Investor Relations: Building and maintaining relationships with investors and securing funding rounds, maintain data rooms and financial due diligence.
  • Merger & Acquisition: Conduct due diligence, evaluations, develop integration plans, cost efficiencies, and reporting.
  • Team Leadership: Leading and mentoring the finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration and efficiency.
  • Data Analysis and Decision-Making: Using financial data to inform strategic decisions and optimize business operations.
  • Pricing and Revenue Management: The CFO will work closely with product, marketing and sales teams to understand market demand, pricing strategies and other factors affecting price elasticity, such as competitive trends.

 

Qualifications:

  • A degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is typically required, with many CFOs holding advanced degrees or certifications like CPA.
  • Extensive experience in financial management.
  • SaaS industry with a system of record platform and integrated Fintech is essential.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and understanding key performance indicators (KPIs) is crucial.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are necessary for leading and collaborating with various teams.
  • A deep understanding of the SaaS business model, including revenue recognition, subscription metrics, and pricing strategies, is highly valuable.
  • Experience successfully navigating start-ups through funding rounds and exits.
